The Staff Accountant prepares and posts journal entries, expense accruals, reconciliations, account analyses, month-end close entries, and financial reports. The role reviews ledger activity and statements, resolves discrepancies, maintains supporting documentation, responds to stakeholder inquiries, and supports process improvements across multiple programs and systems while following company guidelines and GAAP.

Records and applies checks, processes web banking deposits and manual payments, manages cancellations and missed-deduction letters, prepares direct billing, maintains billing spreadsheets, notifies carriers, and supports account servicing teams. The role requires attention to detail, multitasking, communication skills, basic accounting knowledge, initiative, and proficiency with Microsoft Suite and internal systems.

Leads end-to-end response to Severity 1 and 2 incidents, coordinating technical teams, stakeholders, and executives through containment and resolution. Owns incident communications, post-incident reviews, root cause analysis, process improvement, metrics, escalation frameworks, and problem-management transitions. Partners with engineering and infrastructure teams to improve service resilience, mentors operations staff, and builds mature incident-management capabilities.

Provides client service and account support for employee benefits books of business. Responsibilities include resolving claims and enrollment inquiries, educating employees on benefit programs, preparing renewal proposals, reviewing compliance documents, updating sales records, supporting carrier transitions and audits, reconciling billing, processing enrollments, and participating in client meetings. Requires or obtains an NJ Life and Health license within 60 days.

Perform operational audits of retail and wholesale insurance profit centers: review files, procedures, contracts, licensing, document findings, assist report preparation, retesting action plans, and support audit team development while traveling to decentralized locations.

Sell and bind personal lines insurance by prospecting, networking, and renewing clients. Manage documentation, coordinate onboarding with account managers, support cross-selling, ensure compliance, and maintain customer confidentiality while attending training.

The Premium Staff Accountant manages and reconciles insurance premium transactions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and cash flow while addressing inquiries and processing deadlines.

Develop new client relationships and expand existing accounts for employee benefits. Manage end-to-end sales, prepare proposals and renewals, advise on coverage and risk management, coordinate with carriers and internal teams, resolve complex claims disputes, and participate in industry networking to drive retention and revenue.

Support the Insurance Placement Team by preparing and submitting commercial insurance submissions, gathering and analyzing carrier quotes, creating proposals, maintaining AMS360 data and Excel worksheets, coordinating renewals and bindings, attending carrier meetings, and negotiating renewal quotes with carriers.

Promotes and sells assigned insurance coverage through phone, email, mail, and fax. Prioritizes leads, presents quotes, closes sales, facilitates applications and underwriting, records activities in the CRM, and services clients during their first year of coverage. Builds customer relationships while meeting territory-based sales goals and gathering market intelligence.
