Designs, implements, and maintains collaborative editing features for Target’s Tile application. Integrates product and materials data sources, connects with the PLM ecosystem, and builds search, notification, and reporting capabilities. Scales the application for increased adoption while improving reliability, observability, performance, and security. The role contributes across front-end and backend systems, influences architecture and engineering practices, troubleshoots operational issues, and mentors or guides fellow engineers.

Lead design and build of production AI-powered applications and autonomous agent systems, and develop scalable AI-ready backend services. Craft microservices (Kotlin/Java, Micronaut/Spring), event-driven architectures (Kafka), and data stores (Postgres, Redis). Implement RAG, vector search, prompt/context engineering, observability (OpenTelemetry), and responsible AI practices. Mentor engineers, lead architecture and design reviews, and drive performance, reliability, and operational excellence for Circle Card application services.

Develop backend and GenAI capabilities for Target’s automated trend-sensing ecosystem. Responsibilities include integrating trend-signal sources, implementing and scaling agentic workflows, partnering with data scientists, supporting merchants and designers, ensuring transparent and reliable results, and monitoring emerging GenAI technologies. The role also involves software design, deployment, maintenance, code review, operational support, and applying distributed programming and data-retrieval strategies.
