Own electrical subsystem design for Zipline's long-range fixed-wing drone from requirements through production and field support. Responsibilities include architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, validation, trade studies, manufacturing readiness, certification support, and cross-functional collaboration. Develop hardware in areas like microprocessors, high-speed communications, GNSS, BLDC motor drives, power/battery/BMS, and support field troubleshooting and supplier/manufacturer visits.

Own supplier industrialization and performance for PCBAs, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and connectors for the Long Range Platform. Define and enforce qualification, inspection, control plans, and manufacturing/test processes. Lead supplier selection, audits, root-cause investigations (8D, PFMEA, SPC), and corrective actions. Partner with Design Engineering on DFM/DFT, manage multiple supplier projects, and perform onsite onboarding, qualification builds, failure investigations, and continuous improvement to achieve flight-ready, reliable production.

Lead design, delivery, and sustainment of production testers and calibration stations for aircraft, dock, pod, and subassemblies. Architect electrical/functional testers, implement test automation and data pipelines, define acceptance criteria, debug PCBA-level failures on the floor, and drive measurable improvements in yield, false-fail rate, cycle time, and tester utilization while coordinating cross-functional launches and vendor qualifications.

Lead and grow the Marketplace engineering organization building consumer and partner-facing marketplace products, integrations, pricing and fulfillment tools. Set technical and product strategy, drive architecture and platform decisions, manage technical debt, partner with product, and create operating rhythms to scale a high-velocity engineering organization.

Investigate and reproduce electrical and mechanical failures on flex circuits, PCBAs, connectors, and assemblies. Troubleshoot with lab equipment, analyze telemetry and test data, perform physical inspections (microscopy, X-ray), run experiments, determine root causes, recommend and verify corrective actions, and document findings in clear reports while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Lead and scale Zipline's global Strategic Sourcing organization: define sourcing strategy for all direct materials, manage supplier relationships and negotiations, drive cost, quality, delivery and risk management, build sourcing governance, and partner cross-functionally to enable product development and global production.

Lead development and validation of physics-based electric propulsion models across fidelity levels. Design and run experimental characterization campaigns, drive quantitative trade studies, build modular modeling frameworks, and continuously improve models using lab and flight data. Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, thermal, controls, test, manufacturing, and operations teams to inform hardware design, operating limits, thermal management, and control strategies.

Lead end-to-end site acquisition for Zipline: source, qualify, negotiate, and close real-estate agreements. Manage pipeline, run high-volume outreach, conduct early feasibility diligence, coordinate contracting with Legal, maintain CRM and forecasting, improve playbooks, and build durable post-signature site relationships while supporting cross-functional handoffs and meeting aggressive targets.

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you'll design and build critical flight software for drones, ensuring reliability and performance while collaborating with various engineering disciplines.

Manage onsite inventory control and material flow for test facility: receive, inspect, and put away parts; execute ERP/WMS transactions; perform cycle counts; pick, stage, and deliver parts; process returns; monitor demand and initiate replenishment; coordinate shipments and cross-functional material risk mitigation.
