Provides administrative support to the Office of the General Counsel and Strategic Litigation Unit, including loan forgiveness certification processing, correspondence, legal document handling, filing, scheduling, reception, website updates, and confidential records management. The role also supports client documentation requests, office procedures, and projects that improve legal representation and client services.

Provides administrative support to public defenders handling criminal cases. Responsibilities include opening and closing cases, running conflict checks, preparing legal documents, processing records and transcript requests, filing and scanning documents, and providing telephone and reception services. The role requires strong organization, communication, confidentiality, attention to detail, and effective interaction with diverse internal and external contacts.

Spring 2027 interns assist attorneys, investigators, and social service advocates representing children and parents in family regulation, guardianship, adoption, custody, and child-requiring-assistance cases. Responsibilities include client interviews and visits, case investigation, service advocacy, negotiation, legal research and writing, discovery and case-file review, education-related advocacy, and potential Juvenile Court appearances if certified. Interns must maintain client confidentiality and demonstrate commitment to zealous advocacy and constitutional rights.

Law student interns assist public defenders, investigators, and social service advocates in representing children and parents. Responsibilities include client interviews, arraignment and bail arguments, legal research, drafting motions and legal memoranda, pretrial investigations, witness interviews, site visits, and arguing pretrial motions. Interns must maintain strict confidentiality and may represent clients in court under supervision if eligible under SJC Rule 3:03.

Fall 2026 law student internship with the Mental Health Litigation Division of CPCS. Interns support civil commitment and mental health litigation through client interviews, legal research, medical-record review, motion and trial preparation, intake calls, and development of legal and training materials. Assignments are available in commitment defense offices and the Boston Trial Support and Oversight Unit. Some students may assist with court and hospital matters under attorney supervision.

Unpaid law student internship supporting public defenders in adult felony and misdemeanor cases. Responsibilities include legal research, drafting motions and memoranda, reviewing evidence, interviewing clients and witnesses, observing court proceedings, and assisting with arraignment, bail, and pretrial motion advocacy when certified under SJC Rule 3:03. Interns receive intensive training and work under attorney supervision while maintaining client confidentiality.
