The VP of Business Development identifies opportunities and develops strategies to acquire new customers and enhance service offerings, leveraging industry expertise to support sales efforts.

Process and edit export orders, prepare and manage international shipping documentation (commercial invoices, export declarations, certificates of origin, letters of credit), arrange ocean shipments, ensure compliance with trade regulations, communicate with vendors/government/customers, maintain SOPs and organized shipment files, and provide clerical support.

Supervise FTZ compliance and warehouse operations: verify/validate shipments, reconcile inventory between Synapse and AOS, prepare FTZ reports, train/manage staff, ensure regulatory and ISO compliance, maintain safety and customer communication, and support payroll and account profitability.

Manage spot quoting, multi-lane bids, and rate updates using G-R8 and carrier sites. Coordinate account documentation and setups, support client onboarding, escalate and resolve client issues, and collaborate with commercial teams on pricing and margin decisions to secure and support new strategic clients.

Responsible for prospecting, closing new business, and supporting account maintenance in assigned territory. Tasks include cold calling, contract design, pricing, coordinating with operations and engineering, attending customer reviews, resolving issues, and meeting profitability goals.

Develop and maintain pricing tools and profitability models for airfreight lanes, issue quotes, track quote performance, present pricing analysis and recommendations to leadership, lead day-to-day pricing activities, manage pricing projects, and coordinate cross-functionally to ensure accurate setup of sold business and competitive vendor rates.

Manage air import shipments from booking through delivery: coordinate with agents and carriers, track and trace cargo, handle billing and invoicing, calculate rates and profitability, communicate with customers and vendors, and enter files in CargoWise for invoicing and brokerage coordination.

Inside sales role for freight brokerage: prospect and develop accounts, negotiate rates, manage and grow customer relationships, use CRM/TMS and Microsoft Office, make outbound sales calls, and provide exceptional customer service to maximize margins.

Coordinate import/export operations including shipment monitoring, export compliance audits, CargoWise tracking, warehouse coordination, report review, TSA IACSSP enforcement, team oversight, and client communications.

Serve as the customer service liaison for freight forwarding: select carriers and routings, process and file shipment documentation in Cargowise/AS400, coordinate with overseas agents and warehouse staff, calculate rates and conversions, complete invoicing and ensure 95%+ data accuracy, assist customers with tracking and issues, and comply with carrier and government regulations.
