Develop and assess policy options, prepare briefings for Ministers and Cabinet, support legislative and regulatory change, manage parliamentary processes, engage stakeholders, and contribute to conservation policy. Senior advisors will also lead complex policy projects, mentor colleagues, and support collaboration across teams.

Lead district conservation teams to deliver priority programmes. Recruit, onboard and manage staff; plan and assign work; manage budgets, contracts and risks; build iwi and community partnerships; contribute to district leadership and regional conservation outcomes.

Lead and deliver a seasonal hoiho (yellow-eyed penguin) conservation programme: nest searching and monitoring, penguin transport and rehabilitation, predator control, trail camera management, data entry and reporting, volunteer coordination, and supporting related biodiversity and biosecurity projects across Rakiura.

Provide enterprise leadership and expert advice across portfolio, programme and investment management. Deliver strategic assurance, design assurance activities, drive prioritisation and benefits realisation, support recovery and complex change, and coach sponsors and delivery teams to improve investment outcomes and organisational delivery capability.

Lead DOC’s relationship and engagement function with iwi, hapū and whānau. Manage and coach a team of advisors, provide strategic Treaty-related advice to senior leaders, oversee engagement planning and quality assurance, build organisational capability, uphold Treaty settlement commitments and champion te ao Māori across the organisation. Represent DOC at high-level forums and lead Treaty-related programmes and initiatives.

Lead development of regional conservation investment opportunities and partnerships. Work with regional teams to create business cases, attract funding from iwi, businesses, philanthropy and NGOs, provide strategic advice, monitor outcomes, and ensure investments deliver measurable conservation benefits.

Lead development and execution of integrated regional plans prioritising biodiversity, Treaty and community outcomes. Provide functional advice, support district teams, oversee performance reporting, analyse delivery trends, recommend improvements, and support capability and culture initiatives. Regional role with some travel; focuses on work planning and translating strategy into operational priorities (non-regulatory).

Lead governance and quality of financial master data, oversee complex data requests and workflows, monitor and report data quality, partner with Finance and Procurement to improve processes, and provide leadership and coaching to strengthen master data management and compliance.

Provide high-level executive support to three Directors in Iwi Strategy and Partnerships: manage complex diaries, emails, travel, meetings/hui logistics, briefing materials, minute-taking, records, and stakeholder relationships. Anticipate priorities, handle confidential information, improve administrative processes, and support leaders to focus on strategic work with iwi, hapū and Māori.

Provide specialist financial accounting across assets, Crown land, taxation, banking and operational accounting. Lead month‑end/year‑end reporting, reconciliations, asset revaluations, audits, and financial statements. Advise on accounting standards, drive system and process improvements, and support financial projects and controls.
