Leads daily administration and strategic management of regional marine cargo claims operations. Oversees adjusting, handling, and settlement of high claim volumes from notification through resolution; coordinates with third-party administrators, collaborates with home office on large losses, and builds relationships with underwriting and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and high service standards.

Supports business partners by documenting processes, gathering requirements, evaluating data quality, analyzing integrations and data mappings, executing test scripts, resolving issues, tracking vendor deliverables, and providing progress updates. Underwrite new and renewal Ocean Marine Cargo business, including ancillary Hull, Protection and Indemnity, and Marine Liability coverage. Analyze risks, establish terms, conditions, and pricing, issue policies and endorsements, and manage broker relationships. Support growth, retention, and profitability objectives while mentoring less experienced underwriting staff on market conditions, risk analysis, marketing, and producer management.

Oversee third-party administrator and direct handling of primary and excess general liability claims. Responsibilities include coverage analysis, liability investigations, reserve evaluations, claim audits, site visits, litigation management, mediations, settlement negotiations, trial attendance, and loss reporting to underwriters, actuaries, and reinsurers. The role requires managing complex CGL coverage issues and property damage and bodily injury exposures across multiple jurisdictions.

Lead actuarial oversight for Starr Europe across reserving, pricing, planning, capital management, performance analytics, underwriting support, and regulatory responsibilities. Establish and develop local actuarial capabilities across multiple jurisdictions, partner with European and London teams, improve pricing tools and metrics, support business planning, and present results to senior committees. The role requires strong commercial judgment, leadership, stakeholder influence, and expertise in non-life commercial insurance, Solvency II, reserving, and pricing.

Lead European budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and financial performance analysis. Review branch, country, and product profitability; support quarterly business reviews and management reporting; develop business cases, scenario analyses, and strategic insights; strengthen governance and controls; and partner with European leadership and London Finance on growth initiatives, organizational changes, and strategic projects.

Manages workers’ compensation regulatory compliance, market conduct audits, regulatory reporting, data governance, and issue resolution across commercial insurance operations. Serves as a subject matter expert on state requirements, coordinates with legal, claims, operations, IT, vendors, regulators, NCCI, and ISO, and provides training and process improvements. The role requires extensive workers’ compensation and property and casualty insurance experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and expertise in multi-state regulatory requirements.

Manage UK and European tax compliance, including VAT, corporation tax, insurance premium tax, transfer pricing, tax disclosures, payments, controls, audits, regulatory developments, and process improvements. Liaise with external advisers, auditors, HMRC, and European tax authorities while supporting tax projects and reporting initiatives.
