Leads and mentors a team of approximately five software engineers and quantum software engineers. Supports research-oriented scientific software and workflows, collaborates with physicists and mathematicians to develop production-grade software for fault-tolerant quantum computing, and delivers developer experiences for quantum error correction research and development. The role combines hands-on technical contributions, team leadership, software integration, and productization of prototype systems.

Lead systems engineering for future quantum computing systems, including requirements management, system architecture, MBSE, interface control, risk management, verification and validation, integration reviews, and technical planning. Serve as a technical integrator across quantum, hardware, software, controls, optical engineering, and theory teams. Support government program reviews, customer interactions, and development of system-level design and verification documentation.

The role involves designing high-performance control systems for quantum computing, focusing on embedded software, real-time systems, and hardware orchestration. Responsibilities include building firmware for SDRs, optimizing software for quantum hardware, and collaborating across disciplines.

Lead architecture, design, prototyping, validation, and deployment of custom high-speed mixed-signal electronics for quantum-computer control systems. Design analog and RF front ends, multi-gigabit FPGA-to-converter interfaces, clocking and power systems, and Altium PCB assemblies. Conduct simulation, signal-integrity analysis, board bring-up, testing, and characterization. Collaborate with physicists and software teams, manage manufacturers and suppliers, drive design-for-manufacturing strategies, and mentor hardware engineers.

Develops scalable optical devices for neutral-atom quantum computers through theoretical modeling, prototyping, experimental validation, and hardware integration. Collaborates with physicists and engineers, analyzes experimental results, and guides optical hardware design. Requires a Ph.D. focused on experimental optics, advanced expertise in optical physics, and experience designing and characterizing complex optical setups. Postdoctoral or industry experience and Python/Git proficiency are preferred.
