Lead end-to-end development of Kodiak’s autonomy fault management system, including requirements, architecture, implementation alignment, verification and validation, safety-case evidence, fault analysis, degraded-operation strategies, and availability trade studies. Collaborate across hardware, software, safety, and operations teams to ensure autonomous trucks detect, isolate, and respond safely to system faults throughout the systems engineering V-model.

The engineer will derive requirements for safe driving in self-driving vehicles, collaborate on algorithms, and support testing and system design for autonomy.

Lead product strategy for Kodiak's Level 4 autonomous trucking hardware stack (sensors, compute, vehicle integration). Define multi-year roadmaps, drive architecture-level trade-offs, align cross-functional teams, own end-to-end product lifecycle and deployments, mentor PMs, and communicate progress to executives and customers. Travel to deployment and partner sites ~10–25%.

Design, validate, and debug medium-to-high complexity PCBA and electrical subsystems for autonomous vehicles. Lead DFMEA, ISO 26262/ASIL compliance, thermal and power validation, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional integration from schematic through product release.

Build tools, libraries, and infrastructure to accelerate Planning development for autonomous vehicles. Improve testing, debugging, metrics, simulation, and evaluation workflows; expose actionable insights from logs and real-world data. Lead infrastructure projects, optimize performance and maintainability, and partner with Planning engineers to increase engineering velocity and safety-case/test coverage.
