The role partners with senior finance, tax, legal, and external advisers while overseeing complex multi-entity financial operations and supporting scalable finance infrastructure.

Build and deploy production machine learning systems for POLITICO’s newsroom and products. Develop classification, prediction, ranking, NLP, and model adaptation solutions; create data pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and feature engineering systems; and collaborate with engineers, journalists, editors, and product teams to integrate reliable, cost-effective AI capabilities into production.

Serve as a strategic HR advisor and hands-on operator for a fast-paced newsroom. Responsibilities include organizational design, workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, talent development, succession planning, compensation coordination, onboarding, employee changes, people analytics, and HR process improvement. The role partners closely with newsroom leaders, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HR Operations, Finance, and Legal to address workforce needs and risks.

Edit and review sensitive journalism before and after publication, resolve ethical and editorial issues, develop newsroom ethics policies and stylebook guidance, and help design journalist training programs. The role collaborates across a global newsroom to uphold fair-minded, nonpartisan journalism and maintain high standards of accuracy, integrity, and professional conduct.

Report on California state government, politics, policy debates, legislative negotiations, campaigns, and ballot initiatives. Break consequential stories, develop sources among lawmakers and Capitol stakeholders, identify emerging conflicts, and explain complex policy issues clearly. The reporter will generate enterprise stories and scoops, work under deadline pressure, coordinate with administration and policy reporters, and connect California developments to national political themes.

Lead POLITICO’s coverage of technology policy and politics in Washington. Set the editorial agenda, edit reporters, shape breaking news and enterprise stories, develop sources, explain complex policy issues, and connect developments across global technology centers. The editor will cover Congress, federal agencies, regulation, corporate influence, and technology industry policy while mentoring reporters and contributing to coverage across POLITICO’s website, newsletters, and Pro platform.

Reports on California technology policy and politics, including cryptocurrency regulation, social media, and personal data use. Writes breaking news, policy updates, newsletter content, and enterprise stories for state, national, and global audiences. Builds source networks among government officials, industry leaders, and advocates; collaborates with reporters across international bureaus; and delivers accurate, nonpartisan, agenda-setting journalism under tight deadlines.
