Design, analyze, and validate turbine cooling systems, thermal management systems, and transient thermal models for gas turbines. Perform advanced thermal analysis using FEA and CFD, validate analytical models with experimental data, develop heat transfer methodologies, and support product design. Collaborate across disciplines, implement innovative solutions, establish modeling and quality-control practices, and mentor a small team of analysts. The position is onsite five days per week in San Diego, California.

Entry-level controls engineer supporting design of electrical hardware and control systems for gas turbines and compressors. Create electrical schematics and PLC control software (ladder logic), perform software testing/simulation, coordinate with customers and internal teams, support field commissioning and safety risk assessments, and attend design reviews and HAZOP meetings.

Lead mechanical design for Taurus 70 and Titan 250 gas turbine programs from concept through production. Drive detail design, validation, manufacturability, testing, cost reduction, and cross-functional collaboration. Mentor engineers, resolve complex product and manufacturing issues, and support field trials and customer interactions.

Manages strategic and complex supplier relationships, including purchase orders, forecasts, contracts, negotiations, supplier performance, cost reduction, total-cost analysis, and risk mitigation. Leads commercial strategies, supplier development, sourcing, NPI support, and cross-functional continuous-improvement projects. Ensures policy compliance and supports delivery of organizational objectives through effective supplier performance and relationship management.

Provide manufacturing engineering support for turbomachinery component production: develop manufacturing plans, design tooling/fixtures, implement inspection (3D scan/CMM), lead quality investigations using SPC/GR&R/Cpk, support new product manufacturability, implement MES, and identify automation/AI improvements.

Design electrical hardware and control systems for gas turbines, generators, compressors, and methane-reduction equipment. Develop electrical schematics and PLC ladder-logic software, conduct simulation-based testing, coordinate with engineering teams and customers, support design reviews and HAZOP meetings, assist field commissioning, resolve safety-critical risks, and provide technical support for installed equipment. The role requires collaboration across disciplines, strong communication, organization, quality focus, and occasional travel.

Design and analyze aerodynamic systems for Solar gas turbines, including flow paths, turbine airfoils, exhaust diffusers, and collectors. Develop and maintain aerodynamic design methods, software, and analytical tools. Support engine programs, testing, product upgrades, and resolution of durability, manufacturing, and field issues. Collaborate with mechanical design, heat transfer, and performance teams to meet manufacturability, cost, durability, and performance requirements.

Leads new product introduction for turbomachinery, from concept through production and beneficial use. Develops mechanical designs, 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and product documentation; performs trade studies and design evaluations; collaborates with suppliers and cross-functional teams on manufacturability, quality, procurement, and first-article builds; investigates field issues, conducts root-cause analysis, and drives corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Leads supplier quality and technical problem resolution for bearings and seals, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality metrics, PPAP, inspection planning, supplier tooling, and supplier qualification. Partners with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams on new product introduction, process improvement, sourcing, and cost reduction. Evaluates and onboards suppliers, supports part design and qualification, facilitates sourcing discussions, mentors junior engineers, and drives projects to completion. Requires domestic and international travel up to 20% and onsite work five days per week.

Coordinates supply planning and purchased material availability for assigned projects and production requirements. Develops material plans using MRP, monitors supplier commitments and delivery performance, manages shortages and recovery plans, analyzes inventory health, maintains ERP/MRP planning data, and communicates risks and schedule updates. The role collaborates with Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, and Operations while supporting continuous improvement in material availability, lead times, and inventory optimization.
