Supports motor vehicle crash reconstruction through fieldwork, 3D data processing, evidence organization, vehicle testing data analysis, and basic MADYMO simulation projects. The intern will shadow experienced forensic engineers, contribute to internal documentation, assist with equipment and materials management, and complete an independent data analysis project involving heavy truck collision mitigation systems and event data recording.

Supports senior engineers in motor vehicle crash investigations, accident reconstruction, and injury biomechanics analysis. Responsibilities include documenting accident scenes, evaluating vehicle dynamics, conducting fieldwork, applying engineering principles, and supporting science-based conclusions. The role uses CAD, finite element modeling, and computational simulation, with some regional travel and outdoor work.

Processes and analyzes event data recorder information from vehicle collisions, prepares client reports, supports crash reconstruction engineers, and conducts regional fieldwork. The role also involves developing software and hardware for new EDRs, chip-level data recovery, original research, technical publications, internal training, computer and software maintenance, and procedural documentation.

Uses CAD, photogrammetry, collision simulation, and related tools to support reconstruction models and engineering reports. Collaborates with senior engineers, presents technical findings, manages multiple projects, and travels regionally approximately 50% of the time.
