Own and deliver control, data acquisition, interlock, and test systems for large experimental laser facilities. The role is based at Xcimer Energy headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

Manages Xcimer’s DOE public-private partnership, coordinating milestones, deliverables, proposals, reporting, technical teams, consultants, and external stakeholders. Establishes and tracks cost and schedule baselines for Fusion Pilot Plan deliverables, monitors performance, communicates program health and risks, and supports engineering and science teams executing complex fusion energy R&D programs.

Leads the enterprise PMO by defining its mandate, operating model, governance, standards, tools, and roadmap. Builds and manages the central PMO team while coordinating matrixed program managers across Fusion and Defense. Establishes consistent practices, decision rights, risk management, health reviews, reporting, and capability development, partnering with executives and technical leaders to improve execution without creating unnecessary process.

Directs Xcimer Energy’s large-scale inertial fusion energy program, overseeing technical integration, system architecture, schedules, budgets, risks, governance, and delivery. Leads multidisciplinary engineering, science, and operations teams across fusion physics, lasers, targets, chamber, fuel cycle, controls, and infrastructure. Establishes program priorities, resolves cross-functional technical issues, manages resources and stakeholders, and guides development from concept through construction readiness, commissioning, and operational demonstration.

Designs, integrates, aligns, and tests UV laser beamlines and diagnostic systems for inertial fusion. Owns optical architectures, performance requirements, tolerancing, component sourcing, supplier relationships, and verification. Collaborates with opto-mechanical, electrical, mechanical, and physics teams on adaptive optics and beam-tracking systems. Requires expertise in optical design software, MATLAB or Python, precision alignment, optical metrology, and high-energy or deep-UV optical systems.

Own manufacturing processes for a wound film capacitor production line, including process documentation, capability, yield, corrective action, SPC, PFMEA, equipment qualification, tooling, change control, operator training, safety, and continuous improvement. The role is floor-facing and focused on improving quality, throughput, cycle time, cost, and process discipline while supporting production scaling and high-voltage testing.

Leads the operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrades of fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic systems supporting superlaser experiments. Develops operating schedules, procedures, limits, and preventive maintenance requirements; leads engineers and technicians during hands-on work; reviews post-experiment data; and resolves anomalies and non-conformances while ensuring systems are safe, reliable, and available for scheduled tests.

Design, analyze, build, test, and operate mechanical systems for laser, pulsed power, vacuum vessel, and inertial fusion equipment. Responsibilities include 3D modeling, pressure vessel design, FEA, instrumentation integration, procurement, assembly oversight, manufacturing support, testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration through prototype and reactor-scale development.
