Represent indigent clients charged with criminal offenses in District and Superior Court. Conduct legal research, prepare filings, develop defense strategies, investigate cases, negotiate with prosecutors, and provide trial advocacy. Manage caseloads, maintain client communication, collaborate with investigators and staff, and adhere to ethical and statutory requirements.

Provides administrative and office support at a correctional institution, including correspondence management, record keeping, filing, database updates, typing, information dissemination, telephone and switchboard operation, appointment scheduling, inventory and usage orders, P-Card reconciliation, and public communication. The Engineer II inspects and evaluates public water supply systems for compliance with federal and North Carolina drinking water regulations. Responsibilities include conducting sanitary surveys, investigating violations and complaints, reviewing engineering plans, providing technical and regulatory assistance, preparing enforcement actions, maintaining regulatory expertise, and training stakeholders. The role requires field investigations in challenging conditions, occasional overnight travel, driving a state vehicle, and physical ability to lift 50 pounds and walk through rough terrain.

Provides clerical and administrative support to probation and parole staff. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering calls, managing records and reports, entering data in OPUS, preparing documents, maintaining schedules and calendars, reconciling monthly reports, managing inventories and supplies, organizing files, processing mail, and handling email correspondence.

Leads and administers the agency’s human resources program, advising leadership, managers, and employees on workforce planning, employee relations, recruitment, classification, compensation, benefits, leave, policy interpretation, organizational development, and employment-law compliance. The role processes personnel actions, guides performance and disciplinary matters, supports organizational design, and ensures HR practices align with state policies and operational goals.
