First finance hire building the finance function: own financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, AP/AR, invoicing, vendor management, cash flow and working capital, expense optimization (API/compute/contractors), investor reporting, and strategic KPI tracking. Lead and manage a small engineering team while remaining hands-on: build and ship scalable production systems for applied AI, drive execution, recruit and mentor engineers, and collaborate across ops, domain experts, and customers.

Design datasets and evaluation frameworks for foundation models, run experiments exposing failure modes across domains, improve annotator behavior, and develop quantitative metrics for dataset quality and downstream model impact. Partner with lab research teams to translate objectives into data and evaluation specs for RLHF/RLVR and LLM training pipelines.

Perform outbound prospecting and qualify leads for frontier AI labs. Research contacts, run multi-channel outreach (email, LinkedIn, X, events), maintain CRM hygiene, and develop outbound playbooks with founders. Articulate product value (data → model improvement) and hand off qualified pipeline to sales team.
