Develop and deploy AI/ML methods (including LLMs/agentic AI) for tuning, diagnosis, control, and automation of particle accelerators. Test methods experimentally on the APS injector and upgraded storage ring, support operator decision-making, automate workflows, and analyze beam and system data.

Develop learning-enabled imaging algorithms for 3D reconstruction and real-time adaptive acquisition of noisy synchrotron datasets; implement multimodal alignment and fusion of structural, chemical, and biological signals; collaborate with scientists across computational science, physics, biology, and environmental chemistry to guide experiments and analyze data.

Serve as division Information Assurance Representative providing expert guidance on information security compliance, safeguarding CUI and classified information, conducting reviews and classification determinations, coordinating publication and proposal reviews, enhancing review processes, and supporting Directorate security operations and policy alignment with DOE requirements.

Administer and maintain AI/ML and HPC testbed infrastructure: install and manage Linux systems, configuration management, version control, scripting, datacenter hardware operations, networking support, documentation, and collaborate with researchers and operations teams to ensure testbed availability and sustainability.

Conduct research and develop post-training and reinforcement learning methods for scientific foundation models, optimize large-scale training and post-training workflows on leadership-class supercomputers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to apply adaptive learning systems to high-impact scientific problems, publishing and communicating results.

Implement and sustain a CMMS and Configuration Database ecosystem for APS assets. Define asset hierarchies and baselines, integrate CMMS with engineering and operational systems, ensure data governance and configuration integrity, support change control and lifecycle documentation, and enable predictive maintenance and reliability analytics to improve asset performance.

Lead an IT team delivering mission-critical digital infrastructure for the Advanced Photon Source, overseeing HPC, networking, Linux and Windows services, cybersecurity, AI-enabled scientific workflows, data pipelines, and digital-twin initiatives. Set IT strategy, policies, budgets, business continuity, vendor relationships, and security compliance with DOE/Argonne standards. Manage staff development, reliability metrics, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to support accelerator operations and beamline science.

Engineer large-scale scientific data services to enable AI for science: design data ingestion, indexing, and search for terabyte-to-petabyte datasets; expose data via high-performance APIs and usable web apps; deploy and optimize services in Kubernetes and HPC environments; collaborate with scientists and partners on data structuring, performance profiling, and secure multi-user access.
