The Lead Engineer, Software is responsible for designing and executing test plans, developing automation scripts, validating systems, and ensuring compliance with quality standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for optical networking products. Implement new features, resolve legacy bugs, collaborate with hardware, validation, and test teams, and ensure accurate firmware documentation. Coach junior engineers, lead code reviews, support pre/post sales and field engineers, and apply Agile/CI/CD/DevOps practices for product delivery.

Drive the design and development of high-power InP-based semiconductor lasers for high-speed data communication applications, ensuring technical leadership, hands-on device development, and collaborative coordination.

Lead development and continual improvement of GaAs/InP epitaxial growth by MOCVD to support R&D and high-volume manufacturing. Collaborate with design and product teams, run statistical process control and DOE, characterize epitaxial layers (XRD, ECV, PL, reflectance), present results to management, and support on-shift production personnel and cleanroom operations.

Lead design and implementation of software architecture and code for automated assembly and test systems. Collaborate with hardware engineers on system conception, integrate motion control and machine vision, test and debug modules, install and qualify systems on production floors, and provide production support and troubleshooting.

Analyze procurement and supply chain data, build dashboards and reports, create executive presentations, and support strategic planning with insights.

Lead the technical engagement with networking teams, manage system integration, resolve cross-functional issues, and ensure product readiness for customer shipment.

Develop, characterize, and optimize wafer fabrication processes (lithography, etch, deposition, metallization, anneal). Create SOPs, process recipes, SPC/OCAP, and control plans. Support process transfers, yield improvement, defect reduction, DOE experiments, and process documentation. Work in cleanroom environment with chemicals and follow EHS and quality standards.

Lead development and execution of CPO strategy, coordinate cross-company CPO and optical interconnect activities, engage hyperscalers and partners, translate customer requirements into solutions, drive market positioning, business development, and cross-selling to expand Coherent's optical interconnect presence.

Design and test PAM4 optical transceivers for datacenter/AI/HPC applications. Define and implement test methodologies, perform RF and link simulations, create drawings/BOMs/ECOs, address DFM, and work cross-functionally with firmware/software, OSA, process development, and Q&R to deliver compliant products. Conduct optical/electrical lab measurements and script-based test automation.
