Build and ship platform software for Nex Playground across PlayOS, device software, backend services, cloud infrastructure, APIs, developer tools, and delivery automation. Interns will design, implement, test, document, measure, and launch production-ready projects while debugging across device, network, backend, and cloud boundaries. The role includes mentorship, collaboration with engineering teams, and opportunities to improve performance, reliability, telemetry, and software quality.

Develop and evaluate machine learning models for computational perception and interaction. Build datasets, experiments, training and evaluation tools, and optimize models for real-time, on-device inference. Develop sports and active-play games for Nex Playground, including motion controls, physics simulation, multiplayer synchronization, prototypes, and production features. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and artists through implementation, testing, playtesting, code reviews, and polish. Help research new game concepts and create tools that improve development workflows.

Software Engineer Interns will develop features for production games, including game architecture, UI, UX, game logic, motion-control algorithms, and internal tools. They will participate in game design, prototype and test mechanics, conduct research, create a game, and present demos. The role emphasizes learning from senior engineers, writing maintainable code, troubleshooting effectively, collaborating with designers, and applying creativity to interactive motion-gaming experiences.

Build real-time software for motion tracking, cameras, audio, and ML inference. Develop tools for dataset preparation and ML model training, evaluation, optimization, and deployment. Improve reliability through visualization, debugging, performance analysis, and automated testing. Collaborate with software engineers, ML researchers, and game teams to integrate experimental technologies into interactive products.

Build tools and libraries that improve game development and publishing for Nex Playground. Collaborate with game engineers and producers to streamline workflows from brainstorming through deployment, address developer bottlenecks, improve content delivery processes, and explore new technologies. The internship runs June 1 through August 31, 2027, in Hong Kong.

Drives the visual direction of motion games and digital experiences across Nex’s platform. Establishes visual language, style guides, benchmarks, and design review processes while ensuring polished, consistent execution. Collaborates with Engineering, Publishing, and other teams, contributes hands-on design, and provides creative leadership through feedback and coaching. The role balances art direction, craft excellence, innovation, and execution across multiple projects.

Develop and sustain electronic hardware for connected consumer products from prototype through mass production. Responsibilities include PCBA development and bring-up, requirements and verification, JDM/ODM partner leadership, technology and component evaluation, manufacturing and field failure analysis, root-cause investigation, corrective actions, and reliability, safety, and compliance oversight. The role also contributes to future product architecture and improves engineering standards, lab practices, and technical capabilities.

Build and lead Nex’s legal operations infrastructure, serving as the intake point for legal requests and implementing the company’s first CLM system. Manage contract workflows, templates, playbooks, governance records, entity administration, trademark licensing, insurance, outside counsel, legal metrics, knowledge management, and compliance support. Partner with the General Counsel, attorneys, Finance, People, Product, Supply Chain, and Trust & Safety teams to streamline legal processes and improve self-service.

Serve as Nex’s primary product legal advisor across privacy, children’s data protection, consumer protection, AI regulation, IP, and product safety. Own the privacy program, including COPPA compliance, consent flows, data practices, and regulatory responses. Advise cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle, create legal review processes and governance frameworks, develop self-service playbooks, and manage outside counsel as needed. The role will build and potentially lead Nex’s product legal function.
