Type: Full Time Internship (June 1, 2027 - August 31, 2027)
As our Software Engineer Intern (Game Development), you will work on sports and active-play experiences for Nex Playground across production games, new prototypes, and online multiplayer projects currently in development. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, designers, and artists to take gameplay ideas from concept through implementation, playtesting, and polish.
Selected work includes:
- Sports & simulation: NFL FLAG Heroes, Bowling: Strike!, Homerun Heroes: StarStrikers, Tennis Smash: Racketville, NHL Puck Rush, and Go Keeper.
- Arcade & competitive play: Miniacs: Steering Madness, Arrow Party, Basketball Knockout, Brick Buster, and Connect 4 Bounce.
- Design and build responsive sports controls using motion algorithms, signal processing, and physics-based simulation.
- Apply software engineering practices when developing, testing, and iterating on production features.
- Help build Connected Play features by connecting players, processing motion input, and keeping gameplay synchronized across devices in real time.
- Explore new game ideas through research and prototyping, and build tools that improve game development workflows.
- Share technical knowledge and participate in playtesting, technical discussions, and code reviews.
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Solid foundation in software development.
- A passion for games and a curiosity about what makes them fun.
