The Senior Backend Engineer will design and implement backend workflows, build APIs, manage system behaviors, and ensure operational correctness while collaborating closely with the CTO.

Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using React, Express.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, REST, and database technologies. Lead feature-focused engineering efforts, write high-quality code and tests, conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level developers, and collaborate with data scientists, DevSecOps engineers, product designers, and government stakeholders in an Agile environment. Work may involve geospatial visualization, streaming data, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, AWS, and high-security production deployments.

Designs, administers, secures, and optimizes hybrid Azure and on-premises database environments supporting NTIA. Responsibilities include managing Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Cosmos DB; performance tuning; backup and disaster recovery; high availability; security and compliance; Azure monitoring; CI/CD automation; troubleshooting; standards development; and mentoring junior engineers.

Designs and manages secure Azure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in commercial and classified DoD environments. Responsibilities include Infrastructure as Code automation, pipeline security, DoD compliance, RMF documentation, vulnerability remediation, system monitoring, incident response, and high availability. The role also leads secure infrastructure requirements across teams and supports mission-critical data analytics and machine learning applications.

Monitor and analyze cyber threats, alerts, and incidents in Tier 1 and Tier 2 SOC operations. Perform malware analysis, network forensics, deep packet inspection, threat hunting, incident response, remediation, and recovery. Develop detection content, improve SOC playbooks and processes, produce threat reports, and coordinate escalations with cyber teams and stakeholders supporting critical federal networks.

Provide hands-on architecture and operational guidance for secure, scalable data, analytics, and AI/ML solutions in Databricks and Palantir Foundry. Establish standards, reusable architectures, CI/CD and MLOps practices, governance, data quality, monitoring, and production-support processes. Guide pipelines, data products, integrations, ML inference, performance optimization, and platform operations while collaborating with engineering, data science, analytics, security, and mission stakeholders in DoD environments.
