Foundational, in-market revenue leader building Axios Local advertising from scratch. Prospect, pitch, close new local advertisers; develop repeatable revenue through renewals; own a high-volume pipeline and convert network relationships into long-term partnerships. Serve as Axios brand ambassador, attend events, and collaborate with editorial teams. Entrepreneurial, network-driven role with base salary, uncapped commissions, and performance incentives.

Lead new and existing advertising partnerships to grow revenue by prospecting, developing strategic agency and brand relationships, creating creative solutions, and collaborating with Brand Studio and events. Report on the business and capital shaping the defense industry: breaking news on VC, startups, M&A, public companies, procurement, and policy; write a bi-weekly newsletter; act as public authority on stage; collaborate across teams to produce timely, concise coverage.

Cover San Francisco for Axios Local: co-author a daily newsletter, break news, build and use strong local sources, experiment with AI in reporting and newsletter production, write in Axios’ Smart Brevity style, meet fast deadlines, and help shape the local product and coverage strategy.

Write and edit native branded content for Axios’ advertising partners across the website, newsletters, and events. Research client topics, craft Smart Brevity thought-leadership pieces, conduct interviews, collaborate with editors and revenue teams, meet daily deadlines, and support campaign messaging. Use AI tools and work within small creative teams; design/infographic skills a plus.

This role involves developing client partnerships to enhance revenue, requiring sales experience in digital media and excellent communication skills.
