Summer software engineering intern supporting Earth science data systems at the EROS Center. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, documenting, and reviewing software; supporting requirements, planning, configuration management, and change requests; and coordinating with mentors and project teams. The role requires translating government operational needs into technical solutions and supporting secure data-driven applications across multiple systems.

Supports systems engineering lifecycle activities including requirements development, system design, implementation, integration, testing, documentation, workflow creation, and integration planning. Collaborates with experienced engineers on mission-critical remote sensing systems while developing technical communication, analytical, and systems engineering skills.

Lead development, governance, analysis, and maintenance of integrated master schedules for major capital projects. Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, permitting, contractors, and startup teams. Perform forecasting, critical path analysis, progress measurement, risk assessment, reporting, and recovery planning. Provide schedule insights to project leadership and lead the planning and scheduling team.

Develops and coordinates logistics plans, policies, and procedures across supply, transportation, maintenance, warehousing, and services. Analyzes support operations, labor utilization, trends, and performance metrics; coordinates customer priorities and problem resolution; manages incident reporting and communications. The role requires C/C++ and Unix programming, database knowledge, testing methodologies, source control, and understanding of data structures, algorithms, and network hardware. Candidates may also integrate Java, Python, Perl, and shell scripts, while supporting quality, security, and database administration activities.

Leads risk and change management for major capital projects, including risk identification, mitigation, quantitative assessment, change control, forecasting, contingency management, and cost and schedule impact analysis. Maintains risk registers, change logs, and performance metrics; coordinates across project workstreams; facilitates reviews; and advises project leadership on emerging risks, opportunities, and project decisions.
