Junior Software Engineer role building scalable backend and data-driven applications for a US financial services client. You will develop and maintain Python and Java applications, support code quality with unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews and documentation, investigate defects, and collaborate with product and technical teams. The position includes mentoring, hands-on ownership from day one, and hybrid work in Évora.

Analyze pension schemes, define explicit requirements and specifications for pension servicing, and support system implementations and migrations. Drive a model-based approach and pensions ontology development, produce scheme analyses, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (including low-code and systems specialists), mentor junior colleagues, and help clients implement new Dutch pension legislation.

Design, build and maintain scalable data architectures and reusable data models. Develop ETL/ELT pipelines using Spark/PySpark on Databricks and Azure. Build and optimise data lakes/warehouses, operationalise analytics into production, collaborate with clients in a consulting environment, and grow into a senior engineer role over time.

Lead and execute functional testing for key products, design test strategies and cases, identify and track defects, validate release readiness, and coach junior testers. Act as quality advocate, organise testing across environments, write test plans, collaborate with developers and stakeholders, and support continuous improvement in an international, hybrid team.
