Provides legal advice and direction on Veterans Affairs programs, including grants, risk management, state claims, procurement, and contracts. Conducts legal research and drafts and reviews correspondence and legal documents. Ensures compliance with complex state and federal laws, regulations, and agency policies while advising leadership and collaborating with the legal team.

The role is full-time, permanent, and fully onsite in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Provides legal guidance to Nebraska’s Children and Family Services Division on child welfare, administrative law, regulations, and appeals. Represents the agency in juvenile court proceedings, supports case managers, handles litigation and potential appellate matters, and conducts privilege reviews for records and discovery requests. The position requires Nebraska Bar admission or eligibility, at least three years of attorney experience for the stated minimum qualification, and travel to other counties as needed.

Provides legal advice and counsel to Nebraska DHHS management and programs, primarily on employment and labor law matters. Represents the agency in employment matters and handles tort, contract, debt collection, procurement, contracting, discovery, and public records issues.
