The Senior Automation Engineer oversees project engineering for automation, focusing on design, testing, commissioning, and customer interaction while managing schedules and budgets.

Responsible for developing and improving test systems for power system protection products, leading test engineers, and driving quality initiatives.

Maintains project files, schedules, budgets, financial records, orders, logistics, invoices, and project tracking reports. Reviews proposals, coordinates document flow between stakeholders, monitors account status, and identifies project risks. Provides meeting coordination, office support, supply ordering, and customer communication while applying accounting knowledge and strong organizational, documentation, proofreading, and problem-solving skills.

Coordinate multiple cross-functional projects, developing plans, tracking schedules, budgets, risks, deliverables, and performance metrics. Present project status to management, improve project processes, mentor others, and support cost, schedule, and quality objectives. The role requires project management expertise, business acumen, strong communication, organizational skills, and familiarity with manufacturing principles and project tracking tools.

Lead design and implementation of custom manufacturing automation: mentor staff, develop electrical control panels, write and debug PLC ladder logic, integrate MES, robotics and vision, manage cabinet builds, introduce machines to production, create specifications for outsourced equipment, and act as technical lead on projects.

Design and develop PCB layouts from schematics, collaborate with electrical/mechanical/manufacturing teams, perform placement, routing, and layout-based simulations, generate fabrication and assembly documentation (Gerbers, BOMs), apply ECOs, support fabrication/assembly/test, and maintain PCB design standards and IPC guidelines.

Plan and execute internal audits, analyze financial results, review journal entries and reconciliations, and assess internal controls. Prepare budgets, projections, and cost analyses, lead special projects, support external audits and tax-related tasks, and deliver practical recommendations to strengthen processes and controls while collaborating across the organization.

Develop and maintain full stack applications: design, implement, and test frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (C#/ASP.NET) components, produce specs and test documentation, collaborate with cross‑functional teams including firmware engineers, follow QA and engineering best practices, and contribute to high‑quality UI/UX. On-site in Charlotte, NC; background and drug screening required.

Lead design and implementation of software features for automated power system event analysis. Drive architecture and technical decisions, mentor developers, collaborate with protection engineers and UX designers, troubleshoot complex issues, and support product delivery, deployment, and customer validation.

Provide regional, world-class customer support including order/quote/RMA entry, issue resolution, training and mentoring of CSRs, on-site customer support, process improvement, and regional performance reporting, using independent judgment and deep product knowledge.
