The role involves underwriting profitable inland marine risks, managing agency relationships, and supporting continuous learning in the underwriting team to meet company objectives.

Prepares, analyzes, and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and regulatory filings. Maintains general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting controls, supports Model Audit Rule testing, assists with corporate tax preparation, and coordinates with auditors and state examiners. The role also conducts accounting research, advises colleagues on financial matters, and contributes to financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Own P&L and lead product strategy for commercial auto lines: develop pricing, underwriting guidelines, new programs, compliance, competitive analysis, and cross-functional communications while leading and enabling teams to drive growth and profitability.

Conduct quality assurance audits and file reviews of commercial underwriting to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations. Document findings, present feedback, support calibration, analyze audit trends, assist in QA procedures and reporting, and participate in process and training improvements.

Lead complex commercial underwriting quality audits, analyze findings and trends, present recommendations to leadership, drive calibration and corrective actions, mentor QA staff, and support development of QA processes, reporting, and system enhancements to improve underwriting consistency and operations.

Evaluate complex commercial risks via site surveys, hazard detection, and written reports; provide consultative risk improvement, safety training, and corrective action plans; support stewardship accounts and market Enterprise Risk Control services while managing territory travel and scheduling.

Lead and evolve the Corporate Actuarial function, overseeing loss reserving, claims actuarial, capital management, and actuarial studies. Provide analytical support to claims, manage capital/reinsurance topics, present to executives/board, drive automation and best practices, and coach and develop actuarial staff.
