Build and train transformer models for plant intelligence, owning data curation, architecture, training strategies, evaluation, and production deployment. Develop robust model lifecycle systems and training and evaluation infrastructure for rapid iteration. Drive machine learning projects end to end, from data collection through production, while working independently on a small team. Apply strong software engineering and scientific skills to maintain practical ML systems.

Own business operations coordination across finance, people operations, administration, vendors, and AI-enabled workflows. Manage inbound triage, pipeline hygiene, customer follow-through, investor updates, PR and event logistics, and customer-facing sales collateral. Coordinate fractional teams and hold senior leaders accountable without direct authority. The role is full-time and in-person in San Francisco, supporting an early-stage plant intelligence startup.

Runs the research roadmap and data-generation programs from scientific signals through validated AI capabilities. Manages CRO and university research partners, including sourcing, contracting, quality oversight, timelines, and budgets. Coordinates science, AI/ML, and field teams; validates capabilities across locations and species; and builds research capacity through papers, advisory boards, grants, and partnerships. The role requires rigorous evidence standards, strong written communication, and comfort creating processes in an early-stage company.
