The Chief Engineer serves as the senior technical authority for fly-by-wire flight control systems, leading architecture, technical planning, cross-functional engineering execution, risk mitigation, requirements, design decisions, testing, and certification. The role coordinates software, hardware, systems, flight operations, suppliers, regulators, and certification teams to take SkyOS from concept through deployment on the R66 aircraft while ensuring safety, performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Supports systems-level testing and integration of avionics systems and subsystems in laboratory and aircraft environments. Responsibilities include writing and executing test procedures, maintaining test documentation and bills of materials, integrating and troubleshooting harnesses and wiring, supporting environmental and EMI/EMC testing, documenting anomalies, assisting root-cause analysis, and coordinating with cross-functional engineering and supplier teams.

Lead development and execution of system-level test equipment and procedures for avionics and electromechanical actuation systems. Support integration and troubleshooting in a Systems Integration Lab and aircraft environments, manage BOMs and supplier testing (environmental, EMI/EMC), document anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate cross-functionally to validate performance and reliability.

The Business Development Lead will drive defense commercialization efforts, engage with stakeholders in the defense sector, and develop market insights for product positioning and strategy execution.

Design and execute flight test plans, manage and operate flight instrumentation, perform pre/post-flight risk assessments and data analysis using MATLAB/Simulink, support flight readiness reviews and documentation, collaborate with GNC and integration teams, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance throughout test campaigns.

Support the General Counsel by maintaining corporate and licensing records, managing contract lifecycle and repositories, drafting and proofreading routine agreements, supporting transactional due diligence, improving legal processes, assisting with IP matters, managing outside counsel invoices, and providing administrative support.

Perform static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance structural analyses for metallic and composite aircraft components; produce hand calculations, FEA, and substantiation for FAA certification. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and flight test teams, support trade studies, correlate test data, author stress reports, and develop analysis tools and corrective actions.

Design, implement, and validate onboard path/motion planning and flight control algorithms. Develop Matlab/Simulink analysis tools, support HIL and flight test, write design/spec/test documentation, and collaborate with Perception, Safety, Certification, Systems, and Flight Test teams to deliver GNC capabilities.

Lead and scale a compliant aerospace supply chain: oversee sourcing, demand planning, MRP/ERP accuracy, supplier quality and contracting, FAA supplier qualification and traceability, team management of buyers, and cross-functional alignment to support production growth.

Develop and verify fly-by-wire embedded flight software per ARP 4754A and DO-178C DAL A. Design low-level drivers, safety-critical monitoring, and peripheral interfaces; perform hardware/software integration and bring-up; author and review requirements, architecture, design, and verification artifacts; support FAA/DER reviews and continuous process improvement.
