Senior Accountant supporting the India entity’s monthly close, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, statutory accounting, tax compliance, audits, intercompany transactions, and consolidation activities. The role also supports transitioning finance processes in-house, Workday ERP implementation and stabilization, internal controls, and cross-functional coordination with Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Procurement, IT, and external advisors. This primarily on-site position requires strong knowledge of US GAAP and India statutory accounting.

Leads strategy, execution, and the full lifecycle for tax technology products, from ideation through launch and optimization. Conducts market research, aligns cross-functional teams, drives roadmap and innovation decisions, and identifies integration opportunities across product lines. Uses customer, market, and performance data to guide direction, mentors team members, represents Vertex at industry events, and maintains awareness of competitors. Requires extensive product management experience, SaaS and cloud expertise, strong business acumen, and occasional travel.

Generate revenue by selling Vertex transaction tax solutions to enterprise prospects and existing customers. Develop territory and account strategies, navigate complex organizations, build executive relationships, understand tax and technical environments, respond to RFPs, create tailored proposals, and close large software and consulting opportunities. Collaborate with sales, consulting, partners, and internal teams while maintaining strong knowledge of tax software, customer needs, and industry developments.

Leads the discovery, development, launch, and scaling of AI-first product capabilities. Translates ambiguous customer problems into hypotheses, requirements, evaluation criteria, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. Partners with engineering, UX, tax SMEs, go-to-market, and customer success to prototype and operationalize reliable, compliant AI solutions. Owns AI quality, monitoring, performance, feedback loops, responsible AI practices, and continuous improvement while influencing cross-functional stakeholders and mentoring junior product owners.

Own the full enterprise sales cycle across the Midwest, from prospecting and territory planning through negotiation and close. Build executive relationships, manage complex multi-stakeholder deals, align tax technology and enterprise software solutions to customer outcomes, and exceed revenue quotas. Use AI-enabled tools and data to improve pipeline development, forecasting, and sales productivity while collaborating with marketing, consulting, sales development, and customer success teams.

Delivers GTM commercial analysis, dashboards, reporting, forecasting, workflow automation, and AI-assisted solutions. Partners with commercial, Finance, Data & Analytics, IT, and regional teams to improve decision-making, standardize metrics, validate outputs, resolve data issues, and reduce manual work. Owns assigned initiatives, documents business logic, supports testing and adoption, and develops reusable capabilities across regions.

Leads India accounting and compliance as Vertex’s first dedicated in-house finance leader. Responsibilities include month-end close, financial reporting, statutory audits, tax and regulatory filings, treasury coordination, payroll finance support, internal controls, SOX compliance, and transition from an external provider to an in-house model. The role also supports Workday ERP implementation and requires oversight of international subsidiaries, consolidation, multi-currency operations, and a growing finance team.

Sell Vertex transaction tax SaaS across a defined territory by generating pipeline, opening new logos, and managing full sales cycles. Develop GTM and territory plans, engage C-suite and cross-functional stakeholders, deliver value-based business cases, and close complex enterprise deals to drive revenue growth.

Prepare more than 700 monthly sales and use tax returns for complex clients, resolve reporting issues, onboard clients and data files, investigate discrepancies, and support electronic filings and tax authority notices. Maintain compliance reports using Vertex Indirect Tax Returns, Excel, RPA, and Alteryx. Build client relationships, mentor junior staff, and contribute to process improvements while meeting peak-period deadlines.

Generates new revenue by selling Vertex transaction tax solutions to enterprise prospects within a defined territory. The role develops go-to-market and account strategies, self-generates pipeline, opens new logos, manages full-cycle sales opportunities, engages Finance, Tax, IT, Procurement, and executive stakeholders, and uses value-based selling to close complex SaaS deals. It also requires forecasting, negotiation, executive communication, strategic relationship building, and strong knowledge of enterprise software and tax technology.
