Hands-on R&D internship supporting solar panel experiments at First Solar's California Technology Center. Work with engineers and technicians on inkjet printing and spray coating of uniform thin films, collect and analyze experimental data, use MS Excel, collaborate with team, and present project results to leadership. Internship runs 3-5 months during the fall term.

Lead statistical scientist for R&D experiment design, meta-analysis, and predictive modeling in thin‑film solar fabrication. Integrate diverse data sources, design experiments, perform advanced statistical analyses (GLMs, PCA, regression, decision trees), conduct data forensics, and communicate results to program teams while training and mentoring staff.

Lead development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of reliability lab test and characterization equipment for photovoltaic modules. Manage technicians, run equipment FMEA, design test procedures, automate monitoring, perform statistical analysis, update data scripts, support plant startups, and produce reports while mentoring junior staff and ensuring safety and continuous improvement.

Install and qualify process equipment, troubleshoot production/equipment issues, run structured problem solving and DOE in pilot manufacturing, collect/analyze data, maintain process controls, SOPs, drawings, and train technicians to improve yield and throughput.

Design, develop, test and support Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software for global manufacturing. Integrate shop-floor systems and PLCs, implement multi-tier .NET solutions, maintain large SQL Server datasets, troubleshoot complex systems, follow SDLC/Agile practices, and provide on-call manufacturing support. Collaborate with global teams and document solutions for operations.

Lead R&D for CdTe photovoltaic absorbers, develop manufacturable processes to improve cell performance and reliability, manage engineers and technicians, prioritize experiments, perform material/device characterization and root-cause analysis, implement statistical process optimization, and support IP development.

Support international tax analyses, documentation, and compliance. Prepare U.S. international tax returns (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118) and workpapers in CSC CorpTax. Maintain tax databases and permanent tax files, prepare elections and filings, analyze withholding remittances, support external advisors and auditors, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, identify process improvements, and perform self-review of tax work products.
