Lead the design, implementation, and operation of IonQ’s DevSecOps platform and software factory. Own CI/CD, release engineering, Infrastructure as Code, internal developer platforms, dependency governance, supply-chain security, vulnerability management, compliance automation, and hybrid infrastructure consistency. Develop AI-enabled and agentic automation, establish secure engineering standards, mentor teams, and improve software delivery efficiency, resilience, and developer experience across the organization.

Lead end-to-end system architecture and technology roadmap development for IonQ’s rack-mountable SNSPD platform. Translate product requirements into system designs, specifications, interfaces, and architectural decisions while driving trade-offs across performance, cost, scalability, and integration. Guide multidisciplinary engineering teams across photonics, cryogenics, electronics, embedded systems, and software; resolve complex integration challenges and introduce technologies supporting autonomous, scalable detector operations.

Design, validate, and industrialize mechanical enclosures and subsystems for quantum products. Own mechanical development from prototyping through product release, including CAD documentation, thermal simulation, assembly bring-up, and validation testing. Develop compact thermal-management solutions, ensure dimensional stability and manufacturability, collaborate with optical, electronic, and systems engineers, and work with suppliers. Serve as a mechanical subject-matter expert across multidisciplinary R&D projects.

Develop real-time runtime software and abstractions for quantum control hardware. Responsibilities include implementing device drivers, building execution environments for user programs, creating developer tooling, improving APIs, and collaborating with experimental scientists, orchestration, compiler, and non-real-time control teams to integrate the broader software architecture. The role requires high-quality systems programming suitable for nanosecond-precision, real-time environments.

Design, architect, verify, and debug FPGA-based signal processing and real-time control systems for quantum computers. Responsibilities include RTL development, high-speed waveform generation, digital control loops, simulation, unit and system testing, documentation, and laboratory debugging. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with board design and software teams and expertise in FPGA verification, SystemVerilog, embedded interfaces, high-speed ADC/DAC and memory interfaces, and complex measurement equipment.

Architects and maintains UVM/SystemVerilog verification environments for complex FPGA designs. Develops verification plans using constrained-random testing and coverage analysis, collaborates with RTL engineers to debug issues, and builds automated regression suites and continuous integration pipelines. The role supports reliable quantum control systems and requires translating technical requirements into robust verification strategies.

Develop real-time runtime software for quantum computing systems, including hardware abstractions, device drivers, execution environments, tooling, and core Rust libraries. Collaborate with experimental scientists, compiler, orchestration, FPGA, and electronics teams to deliver low-latency control with nanosecond precision. Improve APIs, testing, code quality, and system scalability while supporting rapid experimentation and the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing.

Owns enterprise endpoint architecture, operating system images, zero-touch provisioning, UEM/MDM platforms, and multi-OS deployment across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu Linux. Designs and manages Workday-to-Okta identity lifecycle automation for onboarding, transfers, and terminations. Serves as the Tier-3 escalation point for IAM and provisioning issues, develops technical documentation and runbooks, mentors administrators and support teams, and coordinates with hardware vendors and provisioning teams.

Design and lay out photonic integrated circuits for quantum processor units, integrating photonic components with metal and CMOS routing. Generate reticle-size mask files using Python for commercial foundry tape-outs, perform DRC and LVS verification, contribute to custom PDKs, and document layout workflows. Collaborate with scientists, photonic, test, packaging, and fabrication engineers to define design rules and deliver complex ion-trapping chips.

Designs, troubleshoots, and deploys electronics reliability fixes for operational trapped-ion quantum computers. Responsibilities include root-causing electrical and control-system issues, designing and testing PCBs and system-level solutions, leading fleet-wide hardware upgrades, retrofitting live systems, and standardizing fixes through documentation and engineering change control. The role collaborates with Operations, Science, Manufacturing, and Engineering to improve uptime, reliability, observability, and operating costs.
