Develop and verify safety-critical embedded avionics software across the full lifecycle to applicable standards (e.g., RTCA/DO-178). Tasks include requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification, architectural concept development, and participation in design reviews. Work primarily with procedural languages (C, Ada, Rust) and operating systems (preferably Linux).

Develop, design, implement and verify embedded avionics software components. Perform requirements analysis, architectural design, integration and verification. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers, ensuring design assurance and delivery on schedule and budget.

Lead airworthiness and certification activities across the product lifecycle: prepare certification plans and data packages, coordinate with aviation authorities and internal teams, assess design-change classifications, support design reviews and compliance tracking, provide technical guidance to development and manufacturing, and approve field change orders and installation documentation.

Perform system integration, verification and validation testing in lab and field. Develop test plans, cases and procedures; create and run automated tests (Python, Robot Framework); configure Windows servers and networks (routing, VLANs); troubleshoot with Wireshark, VCCI, CORE; support field trials; review technical documentation; collaborate with software, systems engineering and customers; assist test planning and coordination.

Develop, test, and maintain mission-critical sonar software. Participate in design, code reviews, troubleshooting, integration, and documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support lifecycle activities; contribute to design reviews and technical support.

Design and integrate advanced electronic hardware for avionics mission computers. Support board design, lead verification and qualification testing, and develop next-generation technologies including FPGA and high-speed digital systems, collaborating across industry, government and academia.

Design, develop and integrate FPGA and firmware solutions for avionics mission computing. Perform simulation and integration testing, collaborate with industry and academia, and contribute to AI/ML-enabled features and sovereign UK defence capability.

Design, develop, and execute integration and qualification tests for aerospace systems. Create test plans, run lab-based verification, track and resolve defects, produce reports, and participate in reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to deliver mission-critical aircraft/defence software. Manage releases, resources, technical risks, and cross-functional coordination with Program Management, QA, Airworthiness and stakeholders to meet program commitments and timelines while fostering a high-performing engineering culture.
