Responsible for applying systems engineering practices across the full lifecycle of a complex UK Ministry of Defence system. Duties include integrating supplier deliveries, managing Windows-based servers and subsystems, maintaining performance and availability, patching across development and production environments, monitoring system health, resolving issues, managing backups and recovery, and supporting customer, supplier, and platform integration activities.

The engineer supports SONET, DWDM, TDM, optical fiber transport, and cryptographic systems while maintaining accurate network records and recommending operational improvements.

Perform design, sustainment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and change management for DoD transport networks (DWDM/SONET/TDM). Implement hardware, conduct fault isolation and RCA, update ServiceNow and MSS, coordinate maintenance/ASI, and liaise with vendors, technicians, and government stakeholders.
