Lead the Ad Serving team at Roku, developing technical strategies and high-performing teams for scalable advertising platforms while improving developer productivity.

The Engineering Manager will drive strategy for Roku's Ad Serving team, lead engineering efforts, and improve productivity in ad mediation platforms.

Provide strategic employment and labor counsel across the UK, EMEA, and global operations. Draft and negotiate agreements, manage disputes and litigation, oversee outside counsel, ensure compliance with evolving laws, support policies, training, contingent worker engagement, and partner with HR and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk and implement practical, business-focused solutions.

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and large-scale data pipelines. Implement ETL workflows with Spark and Airflow, optimize data processing and queries, monitor systems for reliability, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with analytics, finance, and cross-functional teams.

Provide strategic employment, labor, benefits, and related legal counsel across the UK, EMEA, and global operations. Draft and negotiate employment and settlement agreements, manage claims and litigation, oversee outside counsel, develop global policies and frameworks, monitor legislation, and support cross-functional stakeholders on hiring, performance, redundancies, investigations, TUPE, contingent workers, and training programs.

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale, low-latency, real-time advertising platform services. Own features end-to-end, collaborate with product and cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, evangelize best practices and platform reuse, and deliver high-quality, performant software on schedule.

Develop and maintain regional TV platform software for Europe and Australia. Collaborate with SoC vendors, support certification (ETV, BBC, DTG), port software to regional standards like HbbTV, and implement new features. Primarily develop in C++ (with C, Python, and JavaScript as needed), troubleshoot across the stack, and leverage AI coding assistants to increase development velocity.

Lead cross-functional incubation to imagine, prototype, launch, and scale original platform-native interactive entertainment experiences. Define vision and repeatable pipelines, partner with product, engineering, design, marketing, and ad teams, shape sponsorship and monetization, and build Roku's internal innovation studio while balancing creative experimentation with measurable execution.

Monitor and triage Roku Channel platform issues (ad delivery, CDN, live feeds); prioritize and escalate incidents to engineering; collaborate with cross-functional teams; perform troubleshooting and some data analysis; support ad services and advertising operations; provide launch and high-visibility operational support, often during off-hours.
