Lead the design, construction, and operation of test stands for small modular gas turbines. Own test infrastructure, instrumentation, DAQ, safety systems, procedures, hazard reviews, abort limits, and control-room operations. Run high-energy rotating and combustion hardware tests, rapidly turn around builds, reduce data using Python or similar tools, compare results with models, and identify design risks. The role requires disciplined test execution, strong safety judgment, and experience with complex machinery and test facilities.

Own clean-sheet mechanical design of small modular gas turbines, including rotors, stators, combustors, cases, bearings, materials, and subsystem interfaces. Perform structural, thermal, and rotordynamic analyses; assess fatigue and durability; design for manufacturability; and work with suppliers and machinists to produce reliable hardware. The role spans conceptual sizing through detailed design and running test articles in a high-ownership seed-stage environment.

Owns execution of the company’s first small modular gas turbine from its current state through a fully built and tested demonstrator. The Lead Engineer will integrate combustion, aerodynamics, mechanical, controls, and power electronics workstreams into an accountable schedule; delegate tasks; lead engineering meetings; track progress; resolve blockers; support vendors; and perform hands-on design, fabrication, debugging, and testing as needed.

Build and operate a test stand for small modular gas turbines, covering instrumentation, plumbing, fuel systems, cooling, protection systems, DAQ configuration, calibration, procedures, pre-test checks, hot-test console operations, and test-stand turnaround. Analyze test data with Python or similar scripting to produce actionable plots. Requires hands-on hardware testing, fixture and plumbing construction, and strong instrumentation fundamentals.

Own aerodynamic design of compressor and turbine stages for small modular gas turbines, from flow-path architecture and meanline modeling through 3D blade design, CFD, hardware testing, and test correlation. The role determines efficiency, stability, operating range, stage count, and manufacturability while closing the loop between simulation and measured performance.

Own the mechanical packaging and deployment of small modular gas turbines, including enclosures, structural frames, mounts, baseplates, vibration isolation, cooling and fuel systems, and lift and transport provisions. Design machinery for manufacturing, assembly, field installation, serviceability, and scalable deployment. The role requires taking turbine hardware from packaging concepts through released drawings and deployed units.

Design and develop mechanical components for deployable modular gas turbines, including enclosures, structural frames, mounts, baseplates, vibration isolation, and transport provisions. Create and release CAD drawings, apply tolerances, source parts, support assembly, and test designs on the shop floor and test stand. The role involves hands-on fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and scaling turbine systems for field deployment and serviceability.

Source and qualify suppliers for precision turbine hardware, negotiate pricing and lead times, and manage purchasing and delivery against build schedules. As production scales, establish procurement, supplier quality, incoming inspection, inventory, logistics, and supplier-base systems for rate manufacturing. The role partners closely with engineering and eventually hires and leads the supply chain team.

Own embedded controls and firmware for prototype and deployed microturbines, taking systems from initial hardware integration through startup, steady-state operation, testing, and safe shutdown. Responsibilities include sensor selection, P&ID and valve decisions, control logic, troubleshooting unfamiliar hardware, turbine data transmission, and on-site installation and commissioning. The role requires close collaboration with test teams and substantial field work on safety-critical rotating machinery.
