Lead the establishment and ongoing operations of a regulated Payments Institution and CASP in Malta. Responsibilities include building teams, developing PI and CASP strategy, overseeing payments, safeguarding, transaction monitoring, onboarding, KYC/AML, regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational performance. The Managing Director will work with regulators, auditors, and cross-functional teams while supporting product launches and ensuring compliance with EU and Maltese financial regulations.

Lead the company’s AML, CFT, and financial crime compliance framework in Malta. Serve as the designated MLRO and primary liaison with the MFSA and FIAU; oversee risk assessments, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, investigations, suspicious transaction reporting, regulatory compliance, staff training, and Board reporting. Advise stakeholders on AML requirements, support audits and inspections, and ensure compliance with Maltese regulations, EU directives, and applicable MiCA obligations.

Provides independent oversight and strategic guidance to the Board of a Maltese payment institution and prospective CASP. Responsibilities include corporate governance, regulatory compliance, AML/CFT oversight, risk management, financial review, safeguarding customer funds and crypto assets, regulatory engagement, and constructive challenge of executive management. The director will attend quarterly and ad hoc Board meetings, participate in committees, and meet Malta Financial Services Authority fitness and probity requirements.

Lead IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendor relationships, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance for payment and digital asset services. Oversee cloud environments, networks, servers, APIs, payment systems, e-wallets, transaction monitoring, security frameworks, risk assessments, audits, and business continuity while collaborating with engineering, product, compliance, risk, and operations teams.

Lead compliance and enterprise risk activities for Malta-based Payment Institution and Crypto-Asset Service Provider operations. Responsibilities include regulatory licensing, MFSA engagement, compliance framework development, PSD2, AML/CFT, MiCA, PSD3 and DORA compliance, risk assessments, monitoring, reporting, safeguarding oversight, market abuse monitoring, incident escalation, training, and compliance-by-design collaboration across legal, product, operations, and technology teams.
