Leads administrative operations across a scientific directorate, supervising and developing administrative staff, allocating resources, standardizing processes, and supporting executive leadership. Oversees complex personnel, procurement, finance, travel, facilities, records, communications, meetings, and shared services while ensuring policy and DOE compliance. Leads the Beam Instrumentation and Controls section supporting the design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and modernization of accelerator systems. Oversees engineering teams, technical scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, organizational development, safety, quality, compliance, procurement, and project delivery. Provides technical stewardship across system lifecycles, manages risks and performance, and collaborates with scientists, engineers, project managers, vendors, DOE reviewers, and external stakeholders.

Conduct fundamental and applied research in embodied AI, agentic AI, robotics, robotic foundation models, world models, simulations, perception, control, manipulation, and interaction. Develop and evaluate AI/ML models, collaborate across interdisciplinary teams, publish findings, communicate research outcomes, and support proposals and partnerships. The position is fully onsite at Brookhaven National Laboratory and requires a recently awarded Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Design and integrate digital ASICs and SoC architectures for scientific instrumentation, including RTL development, reusable IP, timing and power analysis, verification coordination, physical implementation, FPGA prototyping, and laboratory characterization. The role supports radiation-tolerant, low-power, high-speed readout systems for particle detectors, photon sciences, quantum information, and other research programs. It requires collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams in a fully onsite national laboratory environment.

Leads Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Accelerator Division, overseeing RHIC operations and the transition to EIC commissioning and long-term operations. Responsibilities include strategic and technical leadership, accelerator reliability, maintenance, infrastructure modernization, operational readiness, safety and regulatory compliance, budget stewardship, workforce development, stakeholder engagement, and DOE mission alignment. The role manages approximately 75 professionals and a $60 million annual operating budget.

Provides executive leadership for Brookhaven National Laboratory’s EIC Technical Division, overseeing more than 300 engineering and technical staff. Directs accelerator-system design, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, modernization, budgets exceeding $200 million, safety, quality, compliance, workforce planning, and project delivery. Serves as the principal technical interface with laboratory leadership, DOE sponsors, project teams, vendors, partner institutions, and external stakeholders.

Leads Brookhaven National Laboratory’s enterprise talent management and human capital strategy. Advises the CHRO and senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, succession planning, performance management, change management, and employee experience. Establishes workforce metrics and analytics, drives organization-wide transformation and operational excellence, partners with external stakeholders, and leads a multidisciplinary HR and training team.

Develop machine-learning algorithms for synchrotron data acquisition and online processing, organize data and metadata standards, and conduct original AI research for NSLS-II science programs. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, users, and sponsors to deploy and disseminate AI tools for light-source applications. Work includes data distribution, analysis-tool integration, and interdisciplinary open-source scientific development.

Leads Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC process improvement initiatives across laboratory business units. Facilitates cross-functional teams, maps current and future workflows in Microsoft Visio, identifies efficiency opportunities, manages improvement project lifecycles, tracks metrics, supports change management, and develops standard operating procedures. The role also builds process improvement capabilities, reports results, and advances quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
