Defend federal civil lawsuits against Suffolk County, representing agencies, departments, officials, and employees in federal court. Litigate complex civil rights and related claims, appear regularly in federal court, and perform legal research, drafting, and trial preparation. Requires strong advocacy, judgment, organization, and written/oral communication. NY State Bar admission and civil defense litigation experience required; trial experience preferred.

Represent Suffolk County and its agencies in defense of civil lawsuits, including personal injury and law enforcement claims. Appear in state court, manage complex tort cases, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and deliver oral advocacy while exercising judgment, organization, and strong communication skills.

Performs basic accounting tasks: records and summarizes transactions, assists with analysis, verification, reporting, cost accounting studies, and establishing procedures. May help implement and maintain computerized accounting systems and recommend solutions to supervisors.

Assist with preparing audit reports, examine and verify accounting records and transactions, reconcile accounts, verify vouchers/purchase orders/inventories, correct procedural errors, and prepare work papers documenting audit findings and recommendations.

Review and evaluate appraisal reports, supervise appraisal staff, ensure compliance with County standards, inspect properties and comparables, recommend supplemental appraisals, prepare visual presentation materials, and may testify in New York courts.
