Leads software development for engineering analysis, defining strategy, quality standards, governance, and technical direction. Manages a small software engineering team, oversees internal and supplier-developed tools, improves analysis workflows, and builds software capability through coaching and training. Collaborates with Digital and IT teams, external suppliers, regulators, and industry bodies, while shaping the adoption of AI and advanced digital methods in engineering analysis.

The role is hybrid, based primarily in Derby, Manchester, or Warrington.

Lead mechanical engineering coordination between customer project teams and the Components & Mechanical Equipment function. Translate customer requirements into prioritized work packages, coordinate delivery across Integrated Product Teams, align engineering and commercial stakeholders, track risks and dependencies, and support issue resolution. Apply mechanical systems expertise to challenge requirements, promote product standardization, and improve collaboration and delivery performance within a regulated nuclear engineering environment.

Lead strategic management, governance and performance of global 3PL/4PL partners. Develop and execute partner strategies, govern contracts and SLAs, build performance dashboards (cost, HSE, vehicle, environmental KPIs), manage logistics budgets and cost-reduction/value-engineering initiatives, mitigate risk, and drive continuous innovation across multiple geographies while interfacing with internal stakeholders.

Provide security assurance for Physical and Personnel Security by conducting audits, identifying vulnerabilities and non‑compliance, advising on legal/regulatory requirements, supporting risk mitigation plans, and reporting residual risks to senior management. Engage with stakeholders and the UK security community and support protective security and threat-informed decision making. Role requires travel for on-site assurance activities.

Lead definition, build and governance of industrialisation capability for a large SMR programme. Develop capability strategy across people, processes and tools; lead workforce planning, resource modelling and organisational design; manage governance, assurance and change control; interface with Delivery Advisory Committee and integrate supplier/partner contributions to deliver capability at scale.

Provide technical leadership to develop, verify and implement engineering software for structural and multidisciplinary analysis. Define strategy, ensure software validation/verification and regulatory compliance, resolve complex technical issues, mentor engineers, and collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to improve quality and integration across analysis domains.

Lead delivery of multiple complex engineering, construction, procurement and regulatory projects within a programme. Manage and coach Project Managers, oversee schedule, budget, risk, quality and stakeholders, report progress, mitigate issues and embed continuous improvement to achieve programme objectives.

Lead structural design delivery for reinforced concrete and steel structures on a nuclear programme. Provide technical leadership, manage structural work packages, coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces, chair technical reviews, resolve engineering risks, and mentor engineers to ensure safe, compliant, integrated delivery.
