Develop, maintain, enhance, test, debug, and integrate complex software systems based on documented requirements. Analyze user and system requirements, design algorithms and database interfaces, resolve defects, improve development processes, and produce technical documentation. Higher levels lead multiple software teams, oversee quality control, coordinate installations, select development processes, recommend technologies, and manage programming and testing responsibilities.

Analyze complex hardware systems supporting SIGINT customer operations. Researches technical information, collaborates with engineers and developers, interprets technical drawings, maintains documentation libraries, and ensures compliance with NSA DS-89 standards. May lead documentation projects and review other writers’ work.

Develops and manages system requirements, architectures, designs, technical documentation, integration plans, and verification strategies for complex government systems. Coordinates hardware, software, facility, and personnel requirements; supports configuration control, risk management, testing, certification, and accreditation. Provides technical leadership and communicates with government stakeholders, program teams, and executives. Level II responsibilities additionally include DoDAF architecture implementation, SOA solutions, baseline management, JCIDS documentation, interface coordination, and quantitative system performance analysis.

Designs, tests, documents, and reverse-engineers integrated circuits, microelectronic components, ASICs, FPGAs, and related firmware for signal-processing applications. Supports hardware modification for government requirements, develops P&R design flows, integrates tools and libraries, and coordinates engineering work. Senior levels lead designs, mentor engineers, develop reverse-engineering procedures, and oversee component de-processing and firmware retrieval.

Design, develop, integrate, prototype, and troubleshoot custom radio and RF hardware for national security missions. Responsibilities span RF architecture, analog and digital circuits, PCB development, FPGA integration, embedded processors, board bring-up, RF characterization, and system-level testing. The engineer collaborates with software, cybersecurity, FPGA, and systems teams while using laboratory equipment to validate and debug advanced communications capabilities.

Support integration, verification, validation, and delivery of complex hardware/software systems for national security missions. Develop test and integration plans, coordinate cross-functional engineering activities, track requirements and technical issues, document system architectures and configurations, and create test reports, operating procedures, user manuals, and training materials. Support acceptance, functional, regression, and field testing while managing interfaces, risks, dependencies, baselines, and corrective actions.

Develop, modify, and debug low-level embedded firmware for sensors, gimbals, motors, optics, actuators, and other electromechanical systems. Integrate hardware and firmware across embedded processors, microcontrollers, imaging systems, and control subsystems. Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues using laboratory equipment, interpret schematics and datasheets, and support advanced national-security platforms. Desired work includes motor control, stabilization, embedded Linux, RTOS, bare-metal development, sensor integration, bootloaders, and existing firmware modification.

Develop modern front-end applications for modeling and simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, engineering, and test environments. Build interfaces for system configuration, data visualization, simulation control, and interaction with physical or simulated hardware. Integrate applications with real-time data and backend services, collaborate with engineers and technical users, and translate complex workflows into effective user interfaces for national security missions.
