Test electromechanical autonomous surface and underwater vehicles from component benches through sea trials. Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, fixtures, instrumentation, data collection tools, and regression tests. Analyze logs and noisy field data, investigate mechanical, electrical, and software failures, verify fixes, and document configurations for reproducibility. Coordinate water tests and deployment readiness with engineering and technical operations teams. The role requires onsite work in San Francisco and domestic and international travel.

Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering projects for autonomous underwater and surface vehicles from scope through integration, testing, sea trials, and production release. Build development plans, manage dependencies, critical paths, configuration, risks, scope changes, acceptance criteria, and test readiness. Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and operations teams in an on-site hardware development environment.

Operate and maintain autonomous surface and subsea vehicles: plan and run field tests, perform hands-on assembly, integration, troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, firmware and software domains, manage data collection and logistics, support HQ production, organize parts and tooling, and develop SOPs and deployment processes for reliable missions.

Work directly with the co-founder to drive outbound prospecting, book qualified meetings, prepare briefings, write proposals and customer materials, manage CRM and pipeline, research verticals and buying committees, support demo logistics and conferences, and draft outreach sequences. This is a hands-on sales role owning deals from day one across defense and commercial customers.

Design and build production tooling, fixtures, assembly stations, automated test rigs, robotic cells, and packaging systems for autonomous underwater vehicles. Develop mechanical, electrical, and software components that control testing and determine pass or fail. Define PFMEAs, control plans, quality limits, and manufacturing data processes. Improve yield through failure analysis and design-for-manufacture/test feedback. The role is hands-on, on-site, and spans mechanical design, instrumentation, actuation, automation, and machine-shop fabrication.

Own and improve the software platform for autonomous underwater robots: deploy and update fleet software, build remote monitoring and high-bandwidth comms, expand simulation and testing, create operator/customer tooling, and execute field testing with international travel.

Design and deliver low-cost, production-ready underwater acoustic sensors (DVL, MBES, Side Scan, USBL). Own hardware and algorithms end-to-end: signal processing, transducer and analog front-end tradeoffs, embedded firmware, calibration, production test, and field trials to validate performance and reliability.

Design, prototype, and produce embedded electronics for autonomous surface and subsea robots. Own schematics, PCB layout, firmware bring-up, power systems, mixed-protocol integration, testing, field reliability, and manufacturing handoffs including DFM/DFT and test fixtures.

Design, prototype, and validate mechanical subsystems for autonomous surface and subsea vehicles (pressure housings, seals, thruster assemblies). Integrate sensors and actuators with electronics, lead lab and ocean testing, troubleshoot field issues, and iterate designs from CAD to deployed hardware. Work hands-on in fabrication and travel internationally for testing.
