Supports Jefferson County HR technology and HRIS operations by administering systems, troubleshooting network, database, application, and equipment issues, maintaining data integrity, processing data transfers, creating reports and databases, resolving system errors, and evaluating system change requests. The role also supports inventory management, system implementations, user training, backup monitoring, and stakeholder analysis. This is a full-time, onsite position with no supervisory responsibilities.

Oversee engineering activities for city traffic, roadway, and drainage systems. Creates and edits GIS records, performs spatial analysis and data extraction, verifies data accuracy, manages reporting, coordinates projects and vendor software selection, develops procedures, trains employees, and monitors work assignments and productivity.

Supports real property appraisers by inspecting properties, measuring structures, reviewing records and building plans, documenting construction characteristics, preparing diagrams and reports, and assisting with property valuations and assessments. The role includes field visits throughout Jefferson County, administrative duties, customer communication, and monitoring real estate market trends. Work requires operating a motor vehicle, using measurement tools, and working in varied outdoor conditions.

Processes and reconciles payroll, validates time and leave data, maintains employee pay and benefits records in HRIS systems, prepares payroll tax reports, manages pension documentation, processes deductions and corrections, and supports new hire onboarding while ensuring compliance with employment, payroll, benefits, and tax laws.

Represents the City of Birmingham, its agencies, boards, and employees in litigation, trials, appeals, mediations, and administrative proceedings. Investigates claims, drafts and reviews legal documents, advises executive leadership on laws and policies, negotiates settlements and contracts, conducts legal research, mentors attorneys, and manages departmental projects, timelines, delegations, vendors, and reports.

Coordinate and oversee traffic studies, signal system design and central traffic computer operations, road construction reviews, accident analyses, permitting, and staff supervision to improve traffic flow, pedestrian and roadway safety, and ensure compliance with federal and local standards.

The Herbicide Applicator plans and oversees the application of chemicals to control vegetation, supervises assistants, and maintains records and equipment. Works outdoors and coordinates daily spraying operations.
