Build core electro-optics and laser hardware capabilities in a startup environment. Design, simulate, fabricate, control, and test high-precision, high-power laser systems and beam modulation technologies. Work across electronics, controls, firmware, optics, measurement, and systems engineering to validate performance through experimentation and solve complex technical problems.

Design, build, simulate, fabricate, and test high-precision, high-power laser and electro-optical hardware systems. The role spans electronic hardware, controls, systems, firmware, programming, optics, test and measurement, and system validation. The engineer will solve complex technical problems hands-on in a startup environment, develop core hardware capabilities, and apply analytical and experimental methods to validate performance. High-power laser safety expertise is preferred.

Design, fabricate, simulate, and test multidisciplinary electro-optical laser hardware and systems. The role requires hands-on expertise across electronics, controls, firmware, programming, optics, lasers, measurement, and system design, with exceptional depth in at least one area. The engineer will generate and control high-precision, high-power lasers, perform real-world experimentation, validate performance, and contribute to building foundational hardware capabilities in a fast-paced startup environment.

Design precision opto-mechanical components and fixtures for photonic systems, perform tolerance and thermal/FEA analyses, create GD&T fabrication drawings, manage BOMs and ECOs, support prototyping and production tooling, perform cleanroom assembly and alignment (adhesive bonding, soldering), and assist in root-cause/failure analysis for production issues.

Design, develop, package, and validate photonic components (isolators, switches, fiber connectors, AOMs). Perform optical modeling, opto-mechanical design, alignment, testing, reliability/failure analysis, and support scaling prototypes to high-volume manufacturing while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Leads electrical integration of photonics light-engine server racks, including power, harnesses, thermal interfaces, and EMI/EMC compliance. Drives architecture decisions, requirements translation, vendor coordination, project schedules, design and test reviews, integration events, documentation, and customer delivery. Requires independent project execution across electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, and contract manufacturing teams.

Lead cross-functional integration and delivery of photonics server racks, manage scope/schedule/budget, translate customer requirements into design, coordinate internal teams and vendors, run reviews and testing, mitigate risks, and deliver installation and support activities.

Lead and grow a mechanical engineering team to design, integrate, verify, and transition complex laser and photonic systems to production. Define company-wide mechanical processes, manage projects from requirements through qualification, oversee rack and cooling architectures, implement DFM/DFA for scalable builds, and collaborate with Optical, Electrical, and Software teams to deliver products on schedule and budget.

Lead photonic module development from concept through production: create project plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage suppliers, mitigate technical risks, track schedules/budgets, run design reviews, and drive continuous improvement.

Technical owner for characterization, qualification, and reliability testing of photonic components and modules. Design and build test setups, execute DOE-driven experiments, measure optical metrics (power, phase noise, RIN, nonlinearity, beam parameters), run EVT/DVT/PVT verification, perform life testing and failure analysis, generate lab-quality data and engineering reports, and build automated test sequences using Python/LabVIEW/MATLAB to drive product development and production readiness.
