Represents death-sentenced and other habeas petitioners in federal post-conviction proceedings. Responsibilities include case investigation, transcript review, petition and brief drafting, supervising investigators and paralegals, coordinating experts, conducting evidentiary hearings, presenting oral arguments, and preparing clemency petitions. Attorneys may also represent federal criminal defendants and noncapital habeas petitioners. The role requires strong advocacy, writing, communication, teamwork, and availability for occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Provides comprehensive litigation support to federal public defenders across pre-indictment cases, trials, sentencing, appeals, and habeas matters.
