Contribute to CERN Courier’s print and digital editions by researching high-energy physics developments, generating ideas, fact-checking, proofreading, commissioning and editing articles, interviewing physicists, writing news and features, curating the website, managing social media, and coordinating with authors, institutions, publishing partners, and CERN communications colleagues.

Develop and qualify cryogenic instrumentation for CERN accelerator environments, including pressure, level, temperature, and heater systems. Maintain and extend LabVIEW-based test benches, develop facilities for electronic-card qualification and sensor calibration, analyze test data, and provide field diagnostics, maintenance, and repair support across cryogenic plants, accelerators, and test facilities. The role also involves multidisciplinary collaboration, R&D, student supervision, and work in radiation areas and underground installations.

Conduct vacuum acceptance testing, residual gas analysis, leak testing, bake-out installation, and NEG activation for HL-LHC components. Assemble, install, commission, maintain, upgrade, and repair mechanical and vacuum systems in underground and radiation-area environments. Prepare technical documentation and test reports, coordinate suppliers and procurement, and support equipment delivery. The role requires practical UHV experience, helium leak detection knowledge, mechanical installation skills, a valid driving licence, and English or French proficiency.

Test, commission, troubleshoot, and validate CERN’s high-current energy extraction control systems. Responsibilities include configuring instrumentation and data acquisition systems, debugging electrical and electronic circuits, testing PCBs, collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and assembling and installing electronic chassis. The role also involves underground and radiation-area work, equipment commissioning, and hands-on hardware performance validation.

Support coordination and execution of safety and project-management activities for accelerator upgrade, consolidation, maintenance, dismantling and commissioning. Prepare and maintain safety documentation and Safety Files, track actions and reporting, participate in meetings and site visits, contribute to risk assessments (chemical, nano, electrical, radiological), support operation readiness and on-site contractor coordination, and implement and monitor safety controls for underground and surface installations.

Develop procurement strategies, identify and qualify suppliers, conduct international tenders, analyze offers, prepare adjudication proposals, and negotiate and manage orders and contracts. The role also supports procurement process modernization, reviews technical and commercial documents, handles claims and disputes, and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external business networks.

Manage the full donor cycle: identify and qualify donors, prepare proposals and reports, secure donations and grants, build corporate and foundation partnerships, run fundraising campaigns and events, track performance, and support due diligence and communications to align fundraising with CERN project goals.

Develop full-stack software for CERN’s open-source REANA platform and the EOSC Federation. Responsibilities include building federated workflow infrastructure, supporting scientific computational analyses, deploying and monitoring services on Kubernetes, and operating and developing REANA. The role involves collaboration with European research partners and researchers, open-source development, and possible standby or off-hours work.

Develop and operate CERN’s next-generation S3-based backup solution integrating disk and tape storage. Responsibilities include C++ and Python development on Linux, systems integration, configuration, testing, monitoring, performance analysis, troubleshooting, service migration planning, operational support, and documentation. The role supports tiered storage and long-term archival services, with occasional standby and work during nights, Sundays, and holidays when required.

Develop frontend and backend features for CERN’s REANA open-source platform for reproducible computational analyses. Support physicists and external partners, manage Kubernetes cloud deployments and operations, and contribute to application monitoring and security. The role requires full-stack software engineering experience with React, Python, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, plus English proficiency and willingness to learn French. The position is hybrid and may include standby duty and work during nights, Sundays, and holidays.
