Design APIs, protocols, job state machines, asynchronous pipelines, queue-driven GPU worker orchestration, persistence, moderation, and error handling. Deliver new editing capabilities, optimize latency and cost, manage production reliability and capacity, and build scalable platform contracts. Lead backend architecture and technical initiatives while partnering with product, ML, research, inference, and consumer teams.

Owns planning and delivery of Canva’s Data program portfolio, including complex cross-functional initiatives such as data governance, classification, access control, and AI-ready infrastructure. The role manages scope, sequencing, risks, dependencies, milestones, and delivery governance while partnering with Data, Engineering, Product, Legal, Security, and Growth teams. It requires influencing without authority, improving delivery practices, and driving strategic programs from ambiguous mandates to measurable outcomes.

Design and build integrations between Cavalry, Canva, and other professional applications. Own authentication and secure connections to Canva services, maintain application-side data and analytics systems, and contribute to Cavalry’s C++ core application. The role requires improving complex systems, writing high-quality code, and supporting a real-time creative application used by motion designers.

Design, build, and improve Canva’s observability platforms, data pipelines, and tooling. Lead technical decisions, optimize metrics and continuous profiling systems, improve monitoring and visualization experiences, and promote observability best practices across engineering. The role involves developing SDKs, operating highly reliable distributed systems, and collaborating cross-functionally to support scalable, high-throughput infrastructure and production reliability.
