Own Ultra’s data infrastructure and information security architecture end to end. Audit existing authentication and authorization systems, identify gaps, and execute a six-month improvement roadmap. Drive SOC 2 compliance, build scalable data-source onboarding tools, and design secure authorization foundations for company-wide AI tooling. The role also supports engineers with safe data access and partners with leadership on architecture for enterprise expansion.

Own firmware where software meets hardware for warehouse robots: debug and fix HW/SW interface failures, tune Linux/kernel for predictable performance, implement safety systems, write device control interfaces, and define metrics for predictive hardware health.

Design, prototype, test, and release electromechanical components and assemblies for industrial robots. Create CAD models, drawings, BOMs, wiring harnesses, test fixtures, and documentation. Troubleshoot hardware failures, support builds in the lab, and collaborate with manufacturing to improve buildability and reliability.

Lead development and scalability of Ultra's electronics stack: ensure environmental robustness, debug intermittent communications, design and select components, work with contract manufacturers for volume production, reduce BOM costs, run rapid prototype-validate cycles, and make build-vs-buy decisions to support thousands of deployed robots.

Lead sourcing, supplier relationships, purchasing, inventory planning, inbound logistics, and supplier quality for scaling robot production. Build tooling and automation, manage POs and RFQs, negotiate terms, and travel internationally to qualify and audit suppliers.

Lead and run robotics data programs: translate ML priorities into collection/annotation/validation plans, own roadmaps and delivery, improve processes, and build tools to ensure high-quality datasets for model training and evaluation.

Conduct research to improve robot foundation models for fast, reliable task learning and execution. Post-train and benchmark models, perform failure analysis, and integrate models into production robotics stacks for deployment at customer sites.

Build end-to-end software systems surrounding warehouse robots, including customer-facing products, internal operations and support tools, and deployment systems. Work across the software stack, iterate based on real warehouse usage, and potentially contribute to robot code, Android VR development, and future mobile applications. Translate open-ended problems into production-quality technical solutions while moving quickly in a collaborative team.

Deploy and commission robotic systems at customer sites: install, upgrade, troubleshoot, train users, and provide remote support. Feed field learnings to product and ML teams, assist with robot assembly and testing at HQ, and help scale deployments across the US.

Conduct research and engineering to improve robot foundation models' speed, robustness, and real-world task performance. Post-train and fine-tune large models (IL, RL), evaluate and benchmark results, integrate models into the production robotics stack, and collaborate with deployment teams to scale across customer sites.
