Acquire, retain, and grow small business clients through outside sales, networking, and community engagement. Build pipelines, open and manage accounts, analyze financials and credit, originate loans, ensure underwriting and documentation accuracy, manage portfolio risk and delinquencies, track activity in CRM, ensure regulatory compliance (BSA), and collaborate with internal partners.

Administers and optimizes enterprise SQL Server and Oracle databases across on-premises, Azure, and OCI environments. Manages high availability, disaster recovery, performance, security, monitoring, backups, cloud integrations, ETL, SFTP, and workload automation. Applies DevOps, CI/CD, scripting, infrastructure-as-code, and observability practices to database operations. Troubleshoots cross-platform production issues, maintains data governance documentation, supports compliance, and evaluates AI-enabled database technologies.

Supports Midland States Bank’s online banking and treasury service products, including ACH, wire transfers, Positive Pay, remote deposit capture, lockbox, and account setup. Provides customer and staff assistance, maintains online banking profiles, validates reports, resolves processing issues, supports compliance and procedures, and trains staff on treasury products. The role requires product expertise, independent work, strong communication, occasional travel, and possible office-based collaboration.

Manages existing wealth-management client relationships, delivers financial guidance and planning implementation, monitors investment portfolios, and supports account retention and growth. Conducts client meetings, needs assessments, and account reviews; identifies referrals and sales opportunities; develops assets under management and revenue; and promotes trust and investment services through community engagement and marketing events. Maintains regulatory compliance, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements, while providing personalized advice and service.

Provides administrative and client service support for Wealth Management accounts. Responsibilities include account maintenance, client communications, documentation, account opening and closing, meeting preparation, data entry, compliance reporting, audit support, scheduling, and coordination with advisors, trust officers, operations, and portfolio management teams. Requires occasional travel for training and team meetings.

Supports the Salesforce team with Financial Services Cloud administration, user support, issue resolution, data mappings, integrations, enhancements, development, testing, defect resolution, and project work. The intern gains exposure to Salesforce functionality, application lifecycle processes, and connections between business applications and data flows while working with team members and a designated coach.

Supports IT infrastructure operations through documentation, inventory, hardware replacement and configuration, server maintenance and patching, technology refreshes, and lifecycle modernization projects. Gains exposure to networking, servers, cloud, security, storage, authentication, collaboration tools, monitoring, and automation. May assist with PowerShell or Python scripting. Collaborates with infrastructure teams, IT departments, and business units while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Supports Accounting and FP&A teams with account reconciliations, financial close activities, budgeting, forecasting, quarterly reporting, system implementations, process improvements, and special projects. The role requires collaboration, regulatory compliance, analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office applications. This is a full-time, local summer internship based in Effingham, Illinois.

Supports the Commercial Credit Department through financial statement analysis, commercial borrower and credit request evaluation, loan structure exposure, credit risk assessment, and special projects. Collaborates with credit leadership, commercial lenders, and market presidents while developing foundational financial analysis skills. Maintains compliance with applicable banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.

Supports the Enterprise Risk Management Department with process mapping, risk and control documentation, operational risk assessments, KRI and risk-event analysis, enterprise risk reporting, governance documentation, and special projects involving third-party risk, business continuity, process improvement, and change management. Collaborates with risk teams and business partners while supporting regulatory compliance and banking operational risk activities.
