Own the embedded Linux platform powering Bonsai Robotics’ field fleet. Responsibilities include OTA updates, fleet provisioning and configuration, observability, Yocto-based OS and BSP maintenance, build and release infrastructure, cross-compilation, and cloud-connected monitoring. The engineer will collaborate across firmware, autonomy, and field operations teams while debugging systems from kernel and hardware layers through cloud services. Experience with robotics, CAN-connected controllers, unreliable connectivity, embedded firmware, and secure software delivery is valuable.

Leads cross-functional hardware and software development programs across Product, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain. Owns integrated plans, scope, budgets, schedules, dependencies, risks, resource tracking, and leadership reporting. Establishes program cadences, drives mitigation plans, aligns stakeholders, and formalizes scalable program management processes in a resource-constrained robotics startup. The role is primarily on-site in San Jose and Watsonville, California, with some travel for customers, partners, and field deployments.

Develop, optimize, and deploy computer vision and machine learning algorithms for autonomous robotics systems. Train custom models, including object detection, segmentation, and 3D vision architectures, for embedded platforms. Collaborate across teams to integrate algorithms into products, research emerging computer vision techniques, and maintain documentation and unit tests. The role requires strong PyTorch, C++, Python, multi-view geometry, deep learning, and robotics expertise.

Design and develop autonomous tractor software for navigation, task execution, and state management. Write production C++, Python, and Rust in a ROS2/Linux environment, review code, debug hardware/software issues across a global fleet, and collaborate with AI/ML teams to deliver safe, reliable, extensible robotics solutions.

Lead and scale the multidisciplinary engineering organization across software, hardware, autonomy, AI, and platform development. Define and execute engineering strategy, align roadmaps and budgets with business priorities, ensure system architecture, validation, and release readiness, support field deployments, and develop engineering leadership and organizational processes to drive predictability and execution.
