Develop and maintain Python scripts and automated workflows for NLM metadata management. Integrate Alma, OCLC, and other systems through APIs and batch exchanges; process, transform, validate, reconcile, and analyze bibliographic and authority metadata in formats including MARC, XML, JSON, and CSV. Implement logging, exception handling, reporting, and documentation while supporting workflow testing, systems integration, and automation improvements.

Supports the National Library of Medicine’s digital repository through metadata analysis, data-quality correction, Solr query development, source-system comparison, and reporting. Reviews OCR, captions, transcripts, audiovisual materials, and accessibility issues; tests generative AI tools and remediation methods; and supports repository improvement, migration, and technical studies. Documents findings and recommendations while collaborating on metadata, indexing, quality assurance, and digital-content workflows.

Repairs and preserves rare books, manuscripts, and paper collections using established conservation practices. Designs protective enclosures, documents treatments, performs preservation surveys, supports digitization and exhibitions, trains staff, handles disaster salvage and mold remediation, maintains lab equipment, and directs technician-level conservation work.

Performs original cataloging of complex biomedical and multidisciplinary library materials using RDA, BIBCO, CONSER, MARC21, MeSH, NLM Classification, and LC Classification. Creates authority records, updates bibliographic and holdings records, analyzes subjects, and ensures compliance with NLM, national, and international standards. The role is full-time and onsite at the National Library of Medicine.
